CAERNARFON Town report they have been inundated with expressions of interest for the vacant first-team manager's post. Although news only broke last week that Steve Smith had parted company with the club, a number of managers, coaches and players have already been in contact with The Oval. Club chairman Arfon Jones said: "It's heartening to see such an interest in the club at this time; not very long ago this club struggled to attract any interest. "I take this as a positive, and an indication that the football community in North Wales recognise that Caernarfon Town is moving in the right direction. "However, I would stress that, as yet, we have not set our stall as to the type of manager we will be looking for to take us forward and up into the higher levels of the pyramid. We are meeting as a board next Monday to agree a job specification and recruitment process. "We want to do this right, be open and transparent in the way we bring in a new manager, and want to ensure we get the right man. We won't be rushing into a decision for the sake of it; and we determined to make the right choice in a measured and well thought out way." Former Welsh Premier League club Caernarfon are now operating in the third-tier Welsh Alliance, but have ambitions to return to the top flight. The Canaries are currently under the caretaker-managership of Colin Saynor

Holyhead taking on Caernarfon tonight at the oval, should be a good game weather permitting.
